My snarry_games pieces Transferis and The Weight of Secrets are both up on my site. I imagine most of the HP folks have already seen them, so I didn't bother reposting here.
blue_soaring wrote a fic follow-up to my Transferis art though, which is just so richly atmospheric it blows me away. I wish she'd write more HP, since one of my very favourite fics of hers is a Snape/Black piece she'd written for merry smutmas a few years ago.
Anyhow, go read (my image is included in the post for the uninitiated!)
Transferis, Snape/Harry, ~3300 words. Post-novels.
I'm regularly working Sat-Mon, which at first left me wondering what to do with my time, but now school is really picking up nearing the end of the semester, so the next four days are going to be pretty packed for me. I have a lot of work to do for my two final projects. I'm happy with my progress on them though, and I have some fun side projects to work on to keep me sane. I'm really happy I've managed so much art lately, since it just plain feels good to be drawing regularly again. As I flailed in my last pic post, I ordered my Cintiq, so that should get to me within the next week. So. Excited.

Art spam go...
Firstly, some Saiyuki commissioned by white_cross_b, who was infinitely patient with me on this one! I hadn't drawn these two in ages, but oh, I still adore them. ^_^

purplefluffycat asked "What are your favourite animated films/shorts/series/artists/styles, and why do they appeal?"
Which is probably too big a topic to leave for the last day, but let's see what I can do...
Films: Rock and Rule, The Little Mermaid, Toy Story, Anastasia, Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, The Iron Giant, Wallace and Gromit: Attack of the Were-Rabbit, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and lately, Superman: Doomsday.
Shorts: Classic Bugs Bunny ranks at the top of the list. After that, there's Felix the Cat, Wallace and Gromit, and a host of others.
Series: DARIA, Jem, BTAS, The Tick, Kimagure Orange Road, Gravitation, the D&D series, Danger Mouse, Powerpuff Girls, etc.
Styles: I like clean lines and smooth movement, which is why you won't find much in the way of Hannah-Barbara here. I prefer humans over animals, but obviously, there are some exceptions.
As for why Animation appeals...Doesn't it speak to the child in all of us? No matter how adult the story may be, animation draws us in and puts us in a younger frame of mind. Also, animation can be beautiful in a way Real Life can never be. Animation means all things are still possible within the story.

Besides all of the other tasty things we made today, I made some banana nut bread. It came out so delicious and fluffy. Since I typed up my recipe for Blue, I figured I'd just post it here.
Makes one loaf. Vegan if you use earth balance (or non-casein margarine) and applesauce in lieu of butter and eggs. ^_^
1c flour 1/2t salt 1t baking soda 1/2c melted butter (I use earth balance to omit the dairy, but another option is 1/4c vegetable oil) 2/3c sugar (i use half white, half brown) 2 very ripe bananas, mashed 1/2 - 1c nuts chopped (i used raw almonds and cashews, which came out much crunchier than my usual pecan/cashew blend) dash of cinnamon dash of nutmeg 1/2c unsweetened applesauce (in lieu of 2 eggs) 1/2t vanilla
I also added a handful of raisins and dried cranberries which added some great texture to counter the crunch of the almonds!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees, combine dry ingredients (flour, sugar, salt, soda, spices). In another bowl, mash the bananas and add the other wet ingredients (butter, applesauce, vanilla). Mix the dry into the wet, add the nuts and any dried fruit, put into a greased pan and cook for about 1 hr, or until a butter knife slid into the centre comes out clean!

Happy National "Gee, I hope nothing bad happens with a knife" Day!
~_^
I have a lot in my life to be thankful for; more than I have to regret. As sarcastic and slyly evil as I can be about the holidays, there is a certain peace in being with the family. I know my family doesn't understand me when it comes to this, though. We argue, piss, moan, snark and throw Pringles, but that doesn't mean I don't love them. Sometimes, they lose sight of me that way and I have to reassure them, even as it baffles me. They're my family. I love them. Just because it can be an adventure putting a bunch of Italian women and their occasionally temperamental but normally passive significant others in a room together doesn't mean the resulting melee ends in me not loving them. Besides, they usually start it! *snicker*
I didn't really get to any food-giving this year, so I made sure to put a big hunk of cash in a food-collection site jar, and I'll give actual food for Christmas. I've tried much harder to spread our giving out this year, so I'm not feeling the usual guilt that comes with the end of the year and realising I haven't donated as much as I'd planned. If you see this, if you're having that twinge, remember, giving isn't as hard as it used to be, what with the writing of the checks and the stamps and all. Most charities have online sites and take PayPal or credit card donations, and you get an instant, easily printed receipt.
So, again, if you're feeling it, take a moment to look a site up and give them a little somethin'-somethin'. It will banish that narsty twinge and put you ahead of the giving game. Plus, you know, good thing to do for others and your heart and all that.

windsorblue, why is March so far away? D: At least I can be happy that I finished two pics this week. With another three days off, I'm aiming high.

When canon gives you lemons write shameless self-indulgent fic instead?
Supply and Demand Supernatural. Alistair/Dean, Sam/Dean, some John/Dean. Dub-con. NC-17. ~1100 words. Most nights he'll take the sweet slowness that the fucker prefers.

Huh, well. Quantum of Solace was a different kind of James Bond film. I can't say I hated it, but I can't say I liked it either.
The story flowed in such a way that I kept waiting for it to actually begin. And we were halfway through the climax when I realised it actually was the climax, which is pretty damn sad. And while I applaud the writers' efforts in making the Bond Girl this time around have a good chunk of plot, intelligence and capability, Bond Girl felt completely wedged into the story just to get a "movie-long" woman in there. Ultimately, we could have lifted her right out of the story and it still would have ended up where it did. Also, while I love Judi Dench as M and want to see more of her all the time, there were a few scenes wasted on her with other talking heads, and I think the writers wasted the Big Plot Point with her that came at the very beginning. She should have been focused on the BPP, but instead, she spent her time trying to rein in Bond, which we all know isn't going to happen, as then there would be no movie.
All that said, this was clearly a transitional film for the Craig era, with new uber-baddies and and an ongoing subplot that could prove intriguing or get dropped like a hot potato. This film didn't drive me away from the franchise, but it was disappointing compared to expectations.

Went to bed stupidly early since J had to and somehow I ended up waking up before his alarm, so I decided to just come in to work with him. He's busy baking all the pastries and muffins right now and I'm lazing around with a cup of tea and poking at some of Blue's fics that need beta'ing. Also apparently ranting...
( Because SPN breaks my heart in the bad way. )
